Next time you host another couple, skip the clever conversation starters. Just put a deck of cards on the table. Something simple, the kind everyone half-remembers the rules to. Arguing over whether that move was legal does more for an evening than any planned question ever could. Add snacks that don't need cutlery, and let the game decide the mood. By round three, nobody's thinking about being interesting. They're just having fun.
